The unsuccessful salmon fishing season has caused the price of red fish to rise in the Far Eastern Federal District. The wholesale price for a kilogram of pink salmon is now 285 rubles, while exactly a year ago the price was 155 rubles.

According to the Federal State Unitary Enterprise "National Fish Resources", in addition to the most popular type of salmon, other types have also become more expensive. The price tag for a kilogram of chum salmon has increased from 375 to 420 rubles in a year, and for sockeye salmon from 540 to 700 rubles.

According to VNIRO, as of September 16, the volume of caught red fish was 219.8 thousand tons. At the same time, the plan for the fishing season was 320 thousand tons, RBK reminds. For comparison: during the salmon fishing season in 2023, Far Eastern fishermen caught 607 thousand tons of red fish. However, a more correct comparison of the catch is for even and odd years. This is due to the peculiarities of the life cycle of the main salmon species - pink salmon.
