Live chicken prices in Brazil fell in February, keeping the purchasing power of poultry producers in São Paulo low relative to feed costs, according to Cepea.
The decline is likely to mark the fourth consecutive monthly drop. In real terms, live chicken prices are now at the lowest level since May 2024.
Corn prices remained largely stable during the period, while soybean meal prices posted a slight increase, further pressuring producer margins.
Strong export demand has prevented chicken meat prices from falling further. Data from Secex show the average daily shipment pace during the first 13 producing days of February reached about 29,000 tonnes.
That volume was 41.3% higher than in January and 33 per cent above the level recorded in February 2025. It also marks the highest daily export pace in the Secex series, which dates back to 1997.
